To investigate the effect of different sucrose concentrations on potato chips Introduction Osmosis is defined as the movement of water molecules across a partially permeable membrane from an area of high water concentration to low concentration. We are investigating this effect on potato chips, which are made out of many plant cells. Due to the fact that potato chips are consistent in type of cell, and are easy to work with, it makes them an ideal material for this type of experiment. When potato chips are immersed in water with a sucrose concentration, the water diffuses from the potato chip and into the stronger sugar solution.
