Biology Coursework Task- To investigate how the temperature effects the activity of amylase [ carbohydrates] on starch. Prediction I predicted that when the starch and amylase are first heated up it will take longer, then it will decreased when we heat them up around the temperature30/40. After this I think it will increase. I think this because of the collision theory. It states "increasing the temperature can have surprisingly large effects on the rate of reaction". I think that when the temperature is low, it will take longer as there aren't as many collisions. As the temperature increases then the rate of reaction will be faster as the particle will be colliding a lot faster. When the temperature is high the rate of reaction will decrease a lot.
