Invesitgation into a Factor That Affects Osmosis in Potato Cells Aim My aim is to investigate a factor that affects Osmosis in a Potato Cell. Variables: * The concentration of the Sugar solution: The more concentrated the sugar solution is the more mass the potato chip will lose. Osmosis is the movement of water from a dilute solution to a concentrated solution restricted by an S.P.M (selectively permeable membrane), a type of diffusion. * The temperature of the Lab: The higher the temperature in the laboratory, the more kinetic energy there is in the molecules. Therefore they move around faster, allowing them to pass through the S.P.M (selectively permeable membrane) rapidly. * Surface area: The larger the surface area, the more rate of Osmosis will increase. The larger surface area allows there to be a much larger absorption area so there are more cells, meaning a larger area of S.P.M, so more water can diffuse in...
