Osmosis in Potatoes Aim: In my investigation I aim to explore the effect of osmosis in potatoes and what effect varying concentrations of sugar solution have on potato chips of a certain size. Prediction: I predict that the lower the concentration of sugar solution, the greater the increase in mass and size of the potato will be. I also predict that the higher the concentration of sugar solution, the more turgid the potato chip will become. After obtaining my results I will expect my graph to look like this: The potato chip placed in 0 % sugar solution will gain mass because of the water moving from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. Where the line crosses the axis the potato chips have the same concentration of sugar as the concentration of sugar they are surrounded by.
