Aim: I plan to place potato cores in different concentrations of sucrose solution, and then I will measure the potato cores to see if they increased or decreased in size. Scientific Knowledge I already have some scientific knowledge on osmosis, with my understanding of osmosis I am able to carry out and plan my investigation to achieve pleasing results. The definition of osmosis is the movement of water from an area of high concentration to a place with a low concentration of water molecules through a semi-permeable membrane (lets small molecules through but not larger molecules). Osmosis in plant cells can cause water to enter the cells or water to exit the cells. When water enters the cell it is called turgid.
