GCSE Biology Sc1 Investigation Planning Aim: I am going to investigate how osmosis in the plant cells of a potato chip is affected by concentration of salt in the solution in which they are placed. Method: 1. Using the corer cut out 15 potato cylinders, and cut off the skin at each end. This is because the skin will affect the rate of osmosis taking place in the cells of the potato chip. Following my pilot study, I have decided to use potato chips that have a starting mass of 1.5g, I think that this mass will show the change in mass of the potato chip better than potato chips with a small mass. 2. I have decided to use 48cm3 of each solution in the jars, as this sufficiently covers the potato chips and fits into the jars well. I will use 5 different concentrations of salt, 0%, 1%, 2%, 3% and 4%. This...
