How the surface area of a potato affects the amount of oxygen produced. In this piece of coursework I will be investigating how the surface area of a piece of potato affects the rate hydrogen peroxide is broken down, as potato contains catalase and will speed up the reaction. It is in this reaction oxygen is produced. This is what we will collect and measure. Plan To do the experiment we will need the following equipment: * A delivery tube * A boiling tube * 2x Clamp Stands * A potato * A Trough * A stopwatch * A ruler * A measuring cylinder * A cork borer * A knife * Hydrogen Peroxide (10ml) We set up the experiment as shown below: Method - We would place the potato slices into the hydrogen peroxide and wait for the oxygen to collect in the measuring cylinder.
