?????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????? ?????????????????? This investigation is to find out how the difference in surface areas of a potato containing catalase, effects the rate of reaction between the catalase and Hydrogen Peroxide. The catalase is used to break down the Hydrogen Peroxide to form oxygen and water. To carry out the experiment we need to use potato blocks and to measure the volume of the gas oxygen, every ten seconds until the experiment seems to have stopped when gas is no longer given off. oxygen is the gas given off when Hydrogen Peroxide is broken down. Catalase is an enzyme. Enzymes Prediction I predict that when the surface area of the potato is increased the rate of reaction will also increase. Explanation I predict that when the surface area of the potato is increased the rate of reaction will also increase. This is because there will be more exposed particles on the...
