Biology Osmosis Investigation PLAN Prediction That plant cells in the form of potato tubes, will lose mass and size in a higher concentrated solution than water. In water the potato tubes will get bigger, in mass and size, as they will soak up the liquid. The size and mass difference will depend on the concentration - the higher the concentration, the more mass and size it will lose. The lower the concentration, the less it will lose. I base this hypothesis on an osmosis experiment done earlier. The visking tube in water gained mass over a period of time and the visking tube in the 1M Sucrose solution lost mass over a period of time. Preliminary Work I am basing this experiment on an experiment we did earlier on the effect of osmosis on a potato tube with water around it and with 1M sucrose solution around it. The results showed that the tube in...
