Michael Smith Biology Osmosis Coursework Aim: I aim to investigate the change of mass in potato cores due to osmosis when they are placed in a water/sugar solution. The Solutions will contain different concentrations of sugar. From the results I get I will then be able to find at what point the sugar outside the potato is the same as inside, at which point I expect there to be no change in mass. Plan: I am going to cut pieces of potato of as similar size as possible with an apple corer. I will cut them from the same potato, and use the same corer each time to ensure they are the same height and diameter, in order to rule out the possibility of size affecting the results, I will record the mass of each piece. I will then place the six pieces into six different test tubes of the same size. I will fill...
