Adam Culling Biology Investigation-Osmosis Planning I am investigating the effects of various amounts of salt and sugar on the osmosis abilities of a potato chip of volume 2cm.x1cm.x1cm. in a 25ml. Solution. To make the test fair I will have to keep the amounts consistent make sure they are measured as accurately as possible. Prediction I think that salt and sugar will both have a negative effect on the osmosis ability of the potato chip because, when osmosis occurs the water will always diffuse from the most concentrated solution (in this case, the potato) to the more concentrated solution (the salt/sugar solution outside the potato) without taking the solute molecules with it. This will occur until the osmatic pressure between the extracellular and intercellular solutions balances out. List of apparatus * Test tubes * Potato * Chipper * Salt * Sugar * Measuring cylinder * Ruler * Test tube rack Method To make the experiment safe I am going to have to be careful while chipping...
