Sarah Lee An investigation to discover the effect of pH on enzyme activity Investigate the effect of pH on the speed that catalase (from potato cells) can break down hydrogen peroxide. Possible input variables The length of time that the enzyme and the hydrogen peroxide is left to react and the temperature of the hydrogen peroxide, the amounts of the potato, catalase and hydrogen and the buffer should be constant and the pH of the buffer. Also the consistency of the potato as the higher the surface area the more it will react. If any of these things are changed then the experiment and the results may be effected. Possible output variables If I change the input variables the amount of oxygen broken down by the catalase in the potato will be effected. The production of oxygen and water will result. My input variable I have decided to change the pH of the buffer that I add to...
