An investigation on Osmosis to determine the concentration of sugar molecules inside a potato Plan What is osmosis? Water moves from where it's a high concentration of water to where it's a low concentration of water along a concentration gradient. Aim To investigate the concentration of sugar molecules inside a potato using controlled osmosis. Diagram Method of investigation To determine the concentration of sugar/water solution in potato chips I will place each sample of equal size chip in a solution of sugar and water. Each sample will be placed in a varying concentration of solution in steps 0-1 molars for 10 minutes. I will weigh the potato chip sample before and after it is placed in the solution. I will record my results in a table, analyse them and determine if the results support my prediction. Prediction I predict that when the potato is placed in a weak sugar solution the potato will gain weight. I also predict that...
