An investigation into the effects of Osmosis on potato's From this experiment I intend to discover the change in mass, due to osmosis, of potatoes submersed in water and the change in mass of potatoes submersed in sugar solutions. To do this I will need: - a selection of potato pieces with an identical mass and surface area (this is to make it a fair comparison between solutions) a number of flat bottomed test tubes, a accurate balance, sugar solutions of various strengths and distilled water. I intend to get 5 strengths of sugar solution (0.1m-0.5m) and some distilled water. I will then put 15ml of each liquid in a flat bottomed test tube I will do this twice so I will have 12 test tubes with 6 different liquids in them. I am going to do this because if I have 2 sets of results I can attempt to eliminate anomalous results this...
