Biology coursework: Osmosis Planning: Aim: I am going to cut potatoes using a cork borer of a medium size (seven.) put in a range of sugar solutions high to weak (0% 10%, 20%, 30% & 40%) to investigate the affect of osmosis. To collect evidence I will use the balance before and after to get the weight difference, then we will get the difference in length by measuring before and after. Equipment: Medium cork borer (seven) 0% 10% 20% 30% 40% sugar solutions Balance Forceps Scalpel Ruler Cutting tile Test tube rack 5 boiling tube the same size Labels 1 large potato Stopwatch Fair testing: Use the same amount of sugar solution; take all the chips from the same potato cut to exactly the same size, leave for exactly the same amount of time, use same size boiling tube, change strength of sugar solution and use same size cork borer. Prediction: I predict that the higher the sugar solution the lighter or smaller the potato will get....
