Cycles in Biology In biology cycles are usually series of states or conditions that repeat themselves, usually after a regular or nearly regular period. It also means that the series always comes back to its starting phase or series completing a full circle of events. Cycles may be due to restorative forces causing repetition as in simple harmonic motion, regularity of motion such as daily, monthly, yearly, and other cycles, or being affected by something else that has these qualities. These forces may be physical, biological or chemical Examples of biochemical cycles in biology are nitrogen cycle, carbon cycle, krebs cycle etc. and an example for a physical cycle would be a cardiac cycle, menstrual cycle The cycle I will be talking about is the cardiac cycle which involves the movement or pumping of blood around the body.
