The Effect of Exercise on the Heart Introduction: In this investigation I will try to find out what factors of exercise affect the body. When we do exercise the body is affected in many different ways: 1) Breathing rate: the number of times you take a breath in a minute. The more intense the exercise the more the need for oxygen and glucose to be supplied to the muscles. Therefore the lungs will have breath more times in a minute to meet the demand for oxygen 2) Heart rate: the number of times the heart beats in a minute (BPM). As the rate of exercise increases the heart rate will increase. This is because there will be more demand on the heart to supply muscles with oxygen and glucose, as they are needed to respire. 3) Oxygen uptake: the amount of oxygen you consume in a minute.
