The Effect of Activity on the Heart Rate Introduction The aim of this investigation is to look at what effect physical activity has on the heart rate. In order to prove the what effects exercise has on the heart rate an experiment will need to be conducted. To carry out this investigation 21 students pulse rates were taken at rest and then again after at 30second intervals, during a course of exercise. This investigation tests the effect exercise has on the pulse rate. Pulse rate represents the beating of the heart, specifically the ejection of blood from the left ventricle to the general circulation of the body. Pulse rate is measured in bpm (beats per minute) It is essential for the human body to have an efficient cardiovascular system, to deliver oxygen and food supplies to the working muscles and to remove waste products such as carbon dioxide.
