Hospital Studies - Assignment 2 Preparing a client for observations Measurement of Body Temperature When recording the body temperature of a patient, it is important that he/she is informed of what the procedure will comprise of. The procedure involves using a glass thermometer that is placed in the prosterior sublingual pocket of the mouth. It is important that the patient does not bite the thermometer. They must be told to hold the thermometer in between their lips to avoid it from breaking. Another part of the body where temperature can be recorded is the 'Axilla' under the arm. I would explain to the patient that the thermometer would be held at the centre of the Axilla for at least 5 minutes. The temperature can be taken when the patient is lying down or standing up. Once the thermometer is in place under the arm, the patient will be asked to place the same arm...
