Jason Lucas 20th January 2004 Mathematics Coursework: Pulse Rate. We will measure the pulse rate as beats per minute by counting the number of beats on a person's wrist. We will use their wrist because this is where a main artery runs and we will count the pulse with our index and middle finger because the thumb has a pulse of its own. We will measure and record the pulse rates of 5 boys who do GCSE PE, 5 girls who do GCSE PE, 5 boys who do Core PE and 5 girls who do Core PE. We will first measure their resting pulse rate, then their pulse after they have done an activity of some sort for 1 minute, then their pulse rate after they have rested or 1 and 2 minutes to see if it is back to resting.
