In this assignment I will be writing an essay investigating the risk factors associated with coronary heart disease. The three main risk factors I will be concentrating on are blood cholesterol, cigarette smoking and increased blood pressure. Blood cholesterol, cigarette smoking and increased blood pressure are factor, which can cause heart disease and even heart attack. It can be avoided, reduced or inherited. Cholesterol is a waxy substance travels in the bloodstream. The higher the cholesterol is, the more likely some cholesterol will build up in the walls of your blood vessel. When there is too much cholesterol (a fat-like substance) in the blood, it builds up in the walls of arteries. Over time, this buildup causes "hardening of the arteries" so that arteries become narrowed and blood flow to the heart is slowed down or blocked. The blood carries oxygen to the heart, and if enough blood and oxygen cannot reach...
