Does Caffeine affect Heart Rate? Summary In this experiment I investigated if caffeine affect heart rate. I took 4 different concentration on caffeine and gave me to daphnia (water flea). I measured the heart rate of theses water flea and found out that caffeine does affect heart rate in daphnia and also the higher the concentration of caffeine the greater the increase in heart rate. Introduction Hypothesis: The more caffeine add to the Daphnia the quicker the heart rate will be. Caffeine is a natural product produce in leafs and seeds of plants as an insecticide. Caffeine is medically know as trimethylzanthine and in pure form is a white crystalline powder. However the main way to consume caffeine is through drinks such as coffee and tea which are see as "pick me up" drinks and also cola, all have caffeine in them.
