Photosynthesis Aim: To find out the effect of varying light intensity on the rate of photosynthesis. Prediction: I predict that as the light intensity increases, the amount of oxygen released will also increase and as the light intensity decreases, the amount of oxygen released will decrease. I think this because light is one of the limiting factors crucial in the photosynthesis process, and less light will result in less reaction taking place inside the plant cells - therefore less oxygen will be produced as a by-product. Carbon dioxide + Water Glucose + Oxygen 6C0 + 6H 0 C H 0 + 60 As you can see from the above formula, carbon dioxide, water and light are all limiting factors, therefore I also predict that as the rate of photosynthesis increases it will be in direct proportion to the increasing light intensity to a certain extent.
