James Bell 10.1 Keeping Things Warm 6/9/02 Plan Aim: To find out and investigate which materials will keep hot water at the highest temperature over a period of ten minutes. Method: I will heat a kettle of water to 85 degress celciusand then pour it's hot liquid content into : two polystyrene cups (one with and one without a lid) and two tin cans (one with and one without a lid). I will wait 10 miutes then record the temperature using a thermometer . I will repeat this prosedure three times and calculate the mean avarage of the temperature of each container so that I will get a fair recording of my results. While waiting for the ten minutes I wont stir the containers or move them so that each contaner recives the exact same conditions. I will mark out on each container 100 ml by filing a measuring cylinder with 100 ml then pouring...
