... Brendan's work is inspired by the movement and characteristics of nature; He makes life like sculptures, mostly animals capturing the essences of his studies through his own experiences. His work is very unique and you can spot it from a mile away. Brendan's work is mostly in ceramic he specialises in bold animal designs, each piece of work is individual made and crafted, he uses wire and slabs of fibre to reinforce the clay, and it gives it character and creates natural wrinkles, indentations, and marks that may be hard to do without it. All his sculptures have a natural outlook to them he uses hand-building techniques to deliberately crack the surface of the piece - by pushing a sheet of clay from the inside it breaks the surface layer as it is stretched. He deliberately marks the surface, using a metal tool and an airgun to harden the clay
