Lauren Pluss 10 G Describe and explain the job opportunities available to women before 1914. The job opportunities available to women before 1914 depended on their class. The working class had the more demanding jobs, the ones that required more labour. The middle class workers did not have to work but some women wanted too, these jobs did not require as much labour. The upper class women often did not work, they had no need to. Some of the upper class women went to university to train to be doctors (for teaching you did not have to train, until1870's and 1880's). The main reasons that women had to start working were that some families needed the money, sometimes even children had to go to work.
