Coursework B (1) The two articles focus on different issues surrounding drug abuse in Britain. Drugs have been in the news and media a lot recently, particularly since June 2002 when the home secretary, David Blunkett, announced proposals to change the classification of cannabis from a class B drug to a class C drug during the year 2003 (this year). This is one of the biggest developments in British drug policy for 30 years. It is still illegal to supply and use cannabis, but this has lead to much discussion about how this classification change may result in adverse health effects and criminal acts surrounding general drug abuse. (2) Article 1 (by Jeremy Laurence) focuses solely on a range of different health issues associated with cannabis use. Three key issues raised are: 1.
