The word Islam has a two-fold meaning. Firstly it means salaam which is Arabic for peace and it also means "submitting oneself to Allah." Therefore in its entirety Islam, one of the world's most practiced religions, is a religion of peace acquired by submitting one's will to the Supreme Creator Allah. Islam is careful to remind us that it is not a religion to be paid mere lip service; rather it is an all-encompassing way of life that must be practiced continuously for it to be Islam (www.islamworld.net).
