Life after death in Islam Muslims believe that the present life is a trial in preparation for the next realm of existence. When a Muslim dies, he / she is washed & wrapped in a clean, white cloth & buried after a special prayer, preferably the same day. Muslims consider this a final service that they can do for their relatives & an opportunity to remember that there own existence here on earth is brief. Islam teaches that after death there will be a Day of Judgement. When people die they remain in the grave until the Day of Judgement. When the Day of Judgement comes, Allah will decide what happens to people and his decision is final. People who have followed the teachings of Allah will go to Paradise, which will be a perfect world of rest & pleasure. Here they stay for ever (akhirah - life after death)....
