Salma Aftab 12Storey Composition of Marks Gospel. According to 1Martin Kahler, Marks start his gospel with the beginning of Jesus' ministry and finishes at his crucifixion. Unlike the other gospels there is no mention of his boyhood stories or the resurrection. This not only makes us question the reasons for this but also questions his sources. From 2Papias originates the Petrine tradition, which is also attested by Clement of Alexandria and Irenaues. 3Guy states that Peter is the key source for Mark and that since Peter was an eyewitness, Marks gospel is particularly accurate. However, 4Hooker and Schmidt argue that the framework for Marks gospel is Marcan as opposed to a written record of Peter's sayings and traditions. Hooker continues to comment convincingly that within the gospel is a mixture of oral traditions and Peters teachings.
