... The method The Design The design was chosen to evaluate whether two people in a couple are equally attractive. The type of design used was repeated measures, which is a longitudinal study usually a controlled experiment. We had to ask a repeated number of people to rate males and females, using their opinion of their attractiveness, on a scale of 0-10. 0 being the lowest possible score and 10 being the highest possible score. Before we started our experiment we made an alternative hypothesis that there would be a positive correlation between how attractive the male and female are in a couple. For example if a male gets a rating of 8 then their other half should also get a rating of 8. There were some possible problems with the design. Participants could rate male or females based on their personal opinion rather than their actual perception of how attractive they think they are.
