Some rules are explicit, but others are implicit in that they refer to expected standards of behaviour, for instance keeping up personal hygiene. These rules become established within society and anyone who breaks then is considered abnormal. However this definition cannot apply to the whole of humanity, for our culture is different to, say, that of the Middle East. It is normal for in some cultures to continue talking to, or seeing, someone after they have died. However in Western culture, if someone was to be seen talking to someone who wasn't there then they could well be considered abnormal.
