The Psychology of Individual Differences (also known as Differential Psychology) studies the way that individuals differ in behaviour from other humans. This approach to Psychology seeks to overcome the problems associated with using average or mean results of studies.

Why Study The Psychology of Individual Differences?

The Psychology of Individual Differences is one of the five core approaches in psychological study. It is distinct from the other four core approaches in that it incorporates individual differences into its studies of groups, rather than looking at the group as a whole.

The Psychology of Individual Differences: What Will I Study?

You might write essays and assignments and conduct experiments on topics such as ethnocentric behaviours (own-race superiority beliefs), individual sanity in insane locations, individual and group performance in sport, the individual and group cohesion theories, and individual approaches to learning and teaching.
