Jason Lister To what extent have work place stressors been shown to be a source of stress? In recent years the work place has been seen as the major source of stress. Frankenheiser concluded from a study of Swedish Sawmill workers that there is a relationship between the work place and high levels of stress. He carried out tests on Swedish sawmill workers whose jobs were repetitive and have little opportunity for social contact. He found that compared to other workers in the mill these workers had a high blood pressure, a high rate of intestinal disorders and they were more likely to suffer from headaches. Urine analysis showed high levels of adrenaline and noradrenaline, these findings suggest they were experiencing stress and this was primarily due to lack of control over their job.
