Subjective well being Review of subjective well being Subjective well being (SWB) is a well studied field of psychology that has developed in current years. This concept of SWB related to the understanding of an individuals evaluation and satisfaction with their life at any moment in time. Factors related to this concept comprise of variables such as rates of depression and anxiety, life satisfaction and positive/negative moods and emotions. Researchers such as Diener have lead the way in discovering what makes an individual happy and content with their life, and many measures have been developed in which to assess SWB. The popularity of such research may relate to the current climate of attainment, self improvement and a culture of constantly aiming higher than already achieved. Most demographic factors are weakly related to SWB and account for less than 20% of the variance in this concept, (Cambell, Converse &Rodgers 1976). Low levels of correlation are...
