Critically consider one or more explanations of anxiety disorders from an evolutionary perspective. (24) Anxiety disorders are a group of mental disorders noticed for the way the cause levels of fear and/or apprehension in people even if the perceived threat is disproportionate to the level of fear shown. They can include phobias, obsessive compulsive disorders and post traumatic stress. Anxiety is an adaptive response picked up by an individual ensuring that the individual will approach a situation where there is a fear of danger with an un-natural amount of caution. Evolutionary approaches to explain anxiety disorders suggest that anxiety disorders a response to a threat often picked up through an adverse experience or situations that involve a risk to a loss of reproductive resources.
