WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF DEPRIVATION? The difference between deprivation and separation is that separation refers to a situation where the Childs caregiver is separated from his or her mother, for example when a mother is in hospital giving birth to another child. The separation anxiety is restored on the return of their mother. But to have formed a bond and to have lost that bond for whatever reason i.e. parental death or divorce could leave a harmful effect on the child unless suitable replace of care is available and this meets the emotional needs of the child. There are many situations where this psychologist called Bowlby conducted a study that looked at the effects of separation on the development.
