The Mosquito Coast Allie Fox Character Sketch Allie is the main character of this book. He is a family man, in the sense that he has children and a wife, but he nowhere near the normal average family man. He is a strange character, an inventor and a very good one at that. He has extreme ideas and ideals about almost everything - America, nature and the world. He often bragged and said about his inventions: "I mean, doing a slightly better job than god." Allie Fox is a very strange but inventive man. He wants to protect his family from the contemporary life and tries to take his family to a better place, though he never really asked for their opinion.
