Tyler Harden Ms. Davis ENGL 102-026 18 February 2003 The Characters of "A Good Man Is Hard to Find" The characters in "A Good Man Is Hard to Find" play a significant role in engaging the reader into believing the story. As in any story, characters give believability to a story and their interaction help move along a story in a more exciting and more eventful way. Without characters, there would simply be no story. They make a story what it is. And the importance of this part of writing is clearly shown in "A Good Man is Hard to Find" by Flannery O'Connor. Though the parts of John Wesley and Junes Star play somewhat of a minor role throughout the story as a whole, the story would have lost its impact had they been removed from the tale or stripped of name and personality and just referred to as "the children."
