Summer Sanctuary The sun glared down on my back and it felt like I was under interrogation. The sky was cloudless and was a dazzling shade of azure. All around, pigeons found abandoned portions of food, and wolfed them down, as if they were going to run away. Other birds could be heard chirping merrily as they gathered on the lush, green grass. My legs were pasted to the bench with sweat, as the sunrays got ever hotter. The sizeable lake ahead of me glistened and reflected the sunbeams. Children threw bread to the greedy ducks, and following the drake, were a procession of five little ducklings, whose downy feathers rustled in the slight, pleasant breeze. As I gazed over at the lofting willow tree beside the pond, I noticed women being flattered by their male counterparts and the entire park had an air of summer romance. I could smell...
