The original published article attempts to focus on the ensuing effects incurred among young children due to varying degrees of punishment tactics ranging from spanking to some which are more abusively inclined. These after-effects pertain more to the levels of societal development of children and their subsequent behavior towards children of the same age or children with whom they are grouped. Studies done before focused more on the aftermath of more abusive punishments rather than spanking, of which the latter is common in more than "90% of children in the United States."
