TMA 04 Small scale investigation into the ways children's self descriptions change with age. Abstract This study investigated children's self descriptions and how they changed with age as well as whom they placed the locus of self knowledge on. Two male participants aged 8 yrs and 16 yrs were chosen at random from a primary and secondary school in Milton Keynes. The method employed to collect the data were recorded interviews. The participants were required to fill in as many self descriptions as they could think of on sheet of A4. The answers the participants gave were then coded using Rosenberg's categorical analysis. The aspects of consumption and gender role were denoted from the interviews. The results showed a gradual development from external description to internal ones.
