Explain Christian attitudes, and the attitudes of ONE other religion, to these treatments. Religious attitudes towards fertility treatments can determine whether a couple can have children. Different faiths have different attitudes towards these treatments. Within the Christian faith, there are two very different views on this matter. Roman Catholics believe that there are none of these treatments that should be used because they think that life is a gift from god, and we must not tamper with life. They think that no one has the right to have children, and children are not 'merchandise'. They also believe that the soul is implanted at conception, thus fertilization by these means does not use the usual form of natural conception, and therefore there would be no soul in the child.
