Most of the children who were evacuated were the working class who had just the basics to survive. Only the children who were under school age were evacuated, only some children were accompanied by parent and teachers

Question 1 - Neat In 1935 the British faced bombardment from the Germans. The German bomber planes bombed major cities in England and could go no further than Bristol. The government had to take extreme measures and react quickly otherwise many lives of civilians could be lost. It was estimated that 600,000 people could be killed within few days and that poisonous gas was to be used. To prevent the death of many people the government put the evacuation plans into action on the first of September in 1939. The government planned to evacuate children, pregnant women and disabled people to the countryside where bombing was not expected. The government wanted to evacuate these people to save their lives from the bombing. For four days the government took over the whole transport system including buses and trains.
