Hurricane Tara de Savary 26th November 2002 Beth Hay and her family lived in South Carolina in America. It was fall and the leaves on the trees had changed to magnificent oranges, browns, yellows and reds. They had had a brilliant summer, with lovely weather. She and her sisters had been out every free moment, selling lemonade to all the tourists who had now gone. One day they were just about to set off on their bikes, to school when Beth's mother came rushing out of the house and told them they were not to go anywhere. She had just heard a very severe hurricane warning on CNN weather channel. It was going to be a direct hit on Charleston, their town! Mrs Hay told the girls to wait in the car and they would go to the grocery store to buy emergency supplies. She made a quick phone call to her husband...
