Healthier Dinners in Schools The current state of dinners in our nation's schools is a national disgrace. It requires fast and drastic change. Health is a key priority in our lives. A healthy and balanced diet is essential for a long, healthy and happy life. The current diet in primary and secondary education is jeopardising this. It is ruining the chances for children to live full and active lives and is leading our nation's future to a life of obesity and ill-health. We have become a nation of overweight coach potatoes and school dinners and the lack of health education in schools is adding to this problem. From the internet I collected some research to back-up my opinions. I learnt that children's salt intakes are up to fifty percent higher than recommended and only around fifteen percent of all children meet the recommendations for added sugars.
