Explain the differing reactions of people in britain to the policy of evacuating children during the second world war. In september 1939, around 1.5 million people, mainly school children were evacuated from areas which were most likely to get bombed like main cities, industrial ares and air feilds. Evacuation was a very emotional time for children, they were gathered in halls and were choosen by foster families,however it wasn't only the children who were effected by evacuation, it was also the foster families and the parents of the evacuated children. When the policy of Evacuation was introduced, parents wern't too keen on the idea, some parents even refused to let there children go and could do this as it was not the law. They didnt like the thought of their children being taken away from them by strangers far away from them, they also thought that if they died they would...
