An Analysis of Behavioral Change and Addiction Recovery Introduction Moving from addiction to recovery is a complicated, long-term process. Yet consensus is increasing among researches and theorists regarding the stages of behaviour change which individuals move through when seeking recovery from substance use or addiction (Schneider & Khantzian, 1992, PP. 165-167). This essay is an analysis of behavior change and the use of two case studies was needed to fulfil the requirements of the assignment. This essay presents an insight into behaviour change, which is further contrasted with two case studies. Case 1 an alcoholic and case 2, an individual addicted to drugs. To commence this essay the decision-making process is considered, specifically discussing the issue of why and how people decide to change addictive behaviour.
