How much credit does Peel deserve for the conservative victory in 1841? In this essay I will be discussing whether Peel deserved credit for leading the conservative party to victory in 1841 I think that Peel does deserve credit for the conservative party victory in 1841, however mistakes by the Whigs also made it easier for the conservative party victory. I will be discussing both sides of this argument and then concluding at the end. Firstly credit can be given to Peel for creating the conservative party. The Conservative Party was formed from various conservative associations established throughout England following the Reform Bill of 1832. This bill granted more parliamentary seats to industrial areas and lessened voting restrictions, resulting in a broader electorate.
