Examination question Labour Party membership Historically labour has provided there party members with more power than the Conservatives. With time this could change, Labour has been trying to reduce the influence of the party members, although this may seem like a jump for more control from our current Prime Minister Tony Blair, it is with good reason. The membership consists of people with the old fashion view of labour. This is a contradiction of the policies of new labour. If the membership had more power then the governing body in charge it would be a clash of different policies and it would be similar to having a coalition government within the labour party. The members of the labour party still have influence for the time being over the selection of the party leader. They can vote for any mp that they feel is suitable for the responsibilities of taking on...
